A business credit application collects the information a supplier needs before letting a customer buy on account and pay later, such as Net 30. It covers the business, its owners, bank and trade references, the credit limit requested and the payment terms the customer agrees to.

How to fill it out

  1. Fill in the legal business name, EIN, address and business type.
  2. List the owners or officers.
  3. Add a bank reference and at least two trade references.
  4. Enter the credit limit and terms requested and where invoices should go.
  5. Have an authorized person sign the agreement section.

Tips

  • Call references within a few days while the request is fresh.
  • Set a starting limit and review it after a few months of on-time payment.
  • Ask for a sales tax exemption certificate if the customer claims one.
  • Keep applications with the customer’s account records.
