Isometric paper is ruled with vertical lines and lines at 30° in both directions, forming equilateral triangles. Drawing along those three directions produces 3D views of boxes, buildings and machine parts with true-length edges.
Draw a vertical edge, then two edges going up at 30° to the left and right from its bottom; copy them from the top and close the faces. Every edge follows a printed line.
Start with 1/4″ or 1 cm; use 1/2″ or larger for young students.
A grid of equilateral triangles: lines run vertically and at 30° to the horizontal. It lets you draw 3D objects with true-length edges, which is why it is used for technical sketches, game maps and math class.
