Hexagon Graph Paper: uses, sizes and printing tips
A honeycomb of small hexagons, 1/4 inch across the flats. Use it for organic chemistry structures, hexagon quilt planning (English paper piecing), tile and garden designs, and drafts of hex-based games.
How to print it
- Choose the paper size (US Letter, A4, Legal, A5 or Half Letter) and portrait or landscape — the page updates as you change settings.
- Pick the hex size (measured flat side to flat side) and flat-top or pointy-top orientation.
- Add a title or a name/date header if you want, or keep the page plain.
- Click Print / Save as PDF. In the print dialog choose “Actual size” (100%) and turn off “Headers and footers”.
Tips
- For chemistry, pointy-top hexes match how benzene rings are usually drawn.
- Flat-top hexes form straight columns; pointy-top hexes form straight rows — use whichever matches your game or pattern.
- Only whole hexagons are drawn, so the edge of the page stays tidy.

From one flat side to the opposite flat side. A 1/4″ hex is 1/4 inch across the flats.
