File Folder Labels: uses, sizes and printing tips
Thirty file folder labels per sheet (⅔ × 3 7/16 inches, 2 across and 15 down) — the standard size for file folder tabs. Each label has writing lines; leave them blank for a clean look.
How to print it
- Choose the label sheet layout — the page size (Letter or A4) follows the sheet you pick.
- Choose what goes on each label (address lines, a “From:” line, a title band, or nothing) and whether to show the label outlines.
- Print one test page on plain paper and hold it against your label sheet in front of a window to check the alignment.
- Load the label sheet and print at 100% (Actual size) with headers and footers off. Hide the outlines when printing on real labels.
Tips
- Use a different colored pen for each category of files.
- Write on the labels by hand, or print the page as a PDF and type on it in a PDF editor before printing.
- If the print drifts a little, check that the printer is not set to “Fit to page” or “Borderless”.

They are sized for file folder tabs; hanging folder tabs usually use smaller insert strips.
How should I name my files?
Start with a category and then the detail — “Taxes – 2026”, “Insurance – Car” — so folders sort alphabetically.

The layout follows the common sizes and spacing for each label count and is centered on the page. Printers differ slightly, so always print a plain-paper test first.
