Practice lines built for cursive: a top line for capitals and tall loops, a dashed midline for lowercase letters, a dark baseline and a light descender line for the loops of g, j, y and z.
Cursive descender loops need room below the baseline; the light dashed line shows how far they should reach.
For slanted script use the calligraphy practice paper, which can add slant lines.
A common progression is 1″ ruling for preschool and kindergarten, 3/4″ for kindergarten to first grade, 5/8″ for first and second grade and 1/2″ from second or third grade. Follow your school’s program if it specifies otherwise.
