How to fill out a Reading Log

Reading Log template preview
Free Reading Log template

Keep track of every book you read. Each of the 22 rows has room for the title, author, page count, the dates you started and finished, and a five-star rating; a box at the bottom collects the books you want to read next. It works for school reading logs, book clubs and personal reading goals.

How to fill it out

  1. Write your name and the year at the top.
  2. When you start a book, add its title, author, page count and start date.
  3. When you finish, write the finish date and fill in one to five stars.
  4. Keep a running list of books you want to read next at the bottom.

Tips

  • Set a yearly goal (for example 24 books) and watch the rows fill up.
  • For kids, add minutes read in the Pages column if the teacher asks for time instead of pages.
  • Online you can click the stars to rate; they print filled in.
  • Print a new sheet when the page is full and staple them together for the year.
