12 Column Columnar Paper: uses, sizes and printing tips
Twelve amount columns across a landscape page — one per month — with numbered rows and a description column. It is the classic layout for annual budgets, sales by month and year-over-year comparisons.
How to print it
- Choose the paper size (US Letter, A4, Legal, A5 or Half Letter) and portrait or landscape — the page updates as you change settings.
- Choose the layout (ledger, check register, cash book or columnar pad), the number of amount columns, the row height and shaded rows.
- Add a title or a name/date header if you want, or keep the page plain.
- Click Print / Save as PDF. In the print dialog choose “Actual size” (100%) and turn off “Headers and footers”.
Tips
- Label the columns Jan–Dec and add a totals row by hand at the bottom.
- Each amount column has a light cents divider so decimal points line up.
- Write in pencil while reconciling and ink the final figures.
FAQ
Will 12 columns fit on Letter?
Yes, in landscape; each amount column is about 1.4 inches wide. Choose Legal for wider columns.
Can I add a total column?
Pick 13 columns and label the last one Total.
Can I print it on Legal paper?
Yes — Legal (8.5 × 14 in) gives more rows per page; choose it under Paper size.
