Crochet Graph Paper: uses, sizes and printing tips

Crochet Graph Paper printable preview
Free printable Crochet Graph Paper

Large graph squares — five per inch — for charting corner-to-corner (C2C) blankets, tapestry crochet and filet crochet. Heavy lines and numbers every 10 squares make it easy to count blocks while you work.

How to print it

  1. Choose the paper size (US Letter, A4, Legal, A5 or Half Letter) and portrait or landscape — the page updates as you change settings.
  2. Choose the grid type (square, knitting, peyote, brick or loom), the number of squares per inch or bead size, and heavy lines with numbers every 10.
  3. Add a title or a name/date header if you want, or keep the page plain.
  4. Click Print / Save as PDF. In the print dialog choose “Actual size” (100%) and turn off “Headers and footers”.

Tips

  • Color the chart, then count each diagonal row for C2C.
  • Color one square per stitch or bead with colored pencils, and keep a key of colors and symbols in the margin.
  • Heavy lines every 10 squares make it much easier to count while you stitch.

FAQ

Why square cells for crochet?

C2C tiles and filet mesh are close to square, so a square grid matches the finished fabric.

How big can my design be?

About 38 × 50 squares on one Letter page at five per inch; choose more squares per inch for larger charts.

Does the chart have to be the same size as the finished piece?

No. The chart only needs the same number of squares; a bigger chart is easier to read while you work.

Is it free, and do I need an account?

It is completely free with no sign-up and no download. Change the settings, print it or save it as a PDF, and bookmark the address — your settings are stored in the link.
